Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup picked crab meat
- 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- Seafood seasoning blend, to taste
- Shredded cheese (optional, for topping)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Mix softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and seasoning until smooth.
- Fold in the crab meat gently.
- Spread in a small baking dish, top with cheese if using, and bake until hot through and bubbling, about 20 minutes.
- Serve hot with crackers or bread.
Food safety: Cook crab and shrimp to a minimum internal temperature of 145°F, checked with a food thermometer, per FoodSafety.gov's own crab/shrimp guidance — a genuinely different citation from this project's fish-fillet 145°F standard and the waterfowl guide's 165°F poultry standard, even though the number happens to match the fish figure. See this guide's own Health & Safety section for handling and storage guidance before you get to this step, and never eat a dead-before-cooking crab.
This recipe is editorially adapted from general regional cooking technique and has not been physically tested by this project.
